Les Andelys is nestled in a meander of the Seine, between limestone slopes and valley, constituting one of the most beautiful sites of the northern half of France. The main sights are the grandiose Hospice Saint-Jacques built to receive pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostella in Spain and the Gothic Saint-Sauveur church.
Day 2 Le Havre, France
Le Havre, seaport and city, is the second largest port in France. While there are some old buildings and a stunning museum with the second most important collection of Impressionist paintings in France after the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, this is above all the city for fans of contemporary architecture. Le Havre looked to the future and hired the modernist Auguste Perret, a mentor of Le Corbusier, to rebuild the centre following the destruction of the Second World War. His efforts have now been rewarded with UNESCO status.
Day 3 Caudebec-en-Caux, France
Caudebec-en-Caux is a small town situated in the Seine-Maritime department of Normandy, on a loop in the Seine River east of Le Havre and west of Rouen.
