Today, Wittenberg is an industrial centre and popular tourist destination, best known for its intact historic centre and various memorial sites dedicated to Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 1996.

Day 6 Genthin, Germany

Genthin is situated east of the Elbe river between Berlin and Magdeburg. Despite some of its darker history, Genthin is a spectacular town that's just the place to be for art lovers and historians alike. The main sights are historic churches and memorial dedicated to the Jewish cemetery. There's also a 19th century castle that's worth a visit and named Schloss Ringelsdorf.
